Here’s one of the most important posts – what we picked as far as the actual house and the floor plan. As I already mentioned, we decided to go with the Jefferson model in the Farmhouse elevation. Here’s a little preview of that model (ours will be reversed with a side-load garage).
Floor plan. This is the most important part. Our floor plan allows for functionality and definitely a lot of room to grow. We expanded the breakfast area and added the mudroom (so excited!). We will also have a 16×10′ screened-in porch instead of an open deck. We’ll also have an 18×16′ brushed concrete patio to finish off the backyard. We decided to add on the front porch, too – front and back porch living! One last change we decided on was to add french doors to the dining room. We won’t need a formal dining room, so we’ll turn that into an office. It’s easy to change back and forth if needed. The floor plan mentions that the fireplace is optional, but it’s a standard option. We will have a gas fireplace, which is pretty exciting.
On the second floor, we have expanded the master closet as per the drawing – it actually makes it the size of a bedroom! I can’t believe we’ll have that much space. We also put in a double sink in the upstairs additional bathroom since we’re just planning ahead.
Next up…what finishes did we pick?!
